{"id":1627,"date":"2010-10-22T16:06:43","date_gmt":"2010-10-23T00:06:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thevioletlights.com\/blog\/?p=1627"},"modified":"2023-10-11T15:41:40","modified_gmt":"2023-10-11T22:41:40","slug":"voodoo-hex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevioletlights.com\/blog\/2010\/voodoo-hex\/","title":{"rendered":"I have been placed under a Voodoo hex\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Orson Welles once claimed that the reason he became increasingly unable to finish any films as his career progressed was a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wellesnet.com\/Sketchbook%20episode2.htm\">Voodoo curse<\/a> placed on him by a witch doctor while he filmed a documentary in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>Lately Joel, too, has been fond of muttering in a low, theatrically serious tone &#8220;I have been placed under a Voodoo hex&#8230;&#8221;.   I laugh, because sometimes, and very often of late, the number of obstacles that have stood in the way of us finishing this <a href=\"http:\/\/thevioletlights.com\/music.php\" title=\"about Sex &#038; Sound EP\">recording<\/a> seem to border on the absurd and uncanny, like some evil force has deemed that it will not ever be finished.  We&#8217;d like to say we know better, but wow, it&#8217;s been insane.<\/p>\n<p>Have no fear, however, we will finish this recording one way or another, hex or no hex.<br \/>\nAlso, this week we came across some appropriately eerie glowing Halloween skulls decorating a home down the street.
